Tree giving days: March 2025

Today, Monday 31st March, is the second in our tree giving days. We were able to source and allocated around 200 trees each in Alloa and Grangemouth this month, with thanks to our partners, Forth Climate Forest.
On Thursday we held the first day at Hawkhill Community Centre in Alloa. Though the weather was poor we did not see a drop-off in people attending to collect their trees. Most went to individuals for their gardens, but Wimpy Park collected two wheelbarrows full, which they then walked back to their premises!
We enjoyed having visitors from the local nursery, who collected apple and cherry trees, as well as older guests. While they waited, people enjoyed hot soup courtesy of the team. A welcome warmer in what turned out to be the only rainy day of the fortnight.
The FEL team was on hand between 1 and 3pm, while a team of volunteers ran the afternoon session, 4 to 6pm for those unable to attend during the early afternoon.
Today we’ll be doing the same again today in Grangemouth, at the Kersiebank Community and Education Centre. Remember that if you have signed up to receive trees, you will need to pop along to claim them today.
We have had such a positive response to this tree drive that we are already looking for ways we can incorporate similar projects in the coming months. Our friends at TreeLink Stirling often run projects delivering free trees to individuals and businesses, community groups and their premises. They have a very popular ‘Free Trees for Bairns’ project that continues each year.
Did you collect a tree from us this time? Are you keen to get involved in planting trees, or helping your local community to plant more? Get in touch and let us know!
