Standing With Kinlochard: Why The Field Matters

At FEL Scotland we believe that places thrive when people have the power to shape their own future. That is why we are proud to support the community of Kinlochard in their campaign to bring The Field into local ownership.

Kinlochard is a small village in the Stirling area that has seen many changes in recent years. The shop, pub, school and café have all closed and public transport has been reduced. What remains constant, however, is the community spirit and the value people place on their shared green space. The Field is a much loved part of village life and is used for everything from outdoor learning to wildlife watching.

The vision is simple but powerful. By raising the funds to purchase The Field, the community will secure it for generations to come. Once in community hands, it can be developed as a place for nature, for food growing, for recreation and for education. Already, support from funders is in place to help improve access, enhance habitats and create opportunities for learning and enterprise once the land is secured.

This campaign is not just about saving a piece of land. It is about protecting red squirrels, otters and bats. It is about giving children the chance to learn outside in their own village. It is about offering a space where people can come together, share skills and strengthen connections. Most importantly, it is about giving Kinlochard the ability to shape its own future.

We know how much work it takes to bring a vision like this to life. That is why we stand with the people of Kinlochard as they take this important step. Together we can make sure that The Field remains a living, breathing heart of the community.
