Get Pedalling for Cycle to Work Day: 3rd July 2025

03.07.2025 | jemma

It’s time to dust off your helmet, pump up your tyres, and join thousands of others across the UK in celebrating Cycle to Work Day this Thursday 3rd July. Whether you’re a daily rider or a total beginner, this annual event is all about encouraging more people to experience the joy and benefits of commuting by bike.

At FEL Scotland, we believe in making sustainable transport accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re proud to support Cycle to Work Day as part of our ongoing work to reduce carbon emissions, promote healthier lifestyles, and improve access to low-cost, low-impact travel.

Why Cycle to Work?

Commuting by bike isn’t just good for the planet: it’s good for your health, your wallet, and your wellbeing too. Even short rides can boost your fitness, improve mental health, and help you arrive at work feeling more energised and focused. In fact, studies show that active travel can reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and lower the risk of chronic illnesses.

Financially, swapping the car or bus for a bike can save hundreds of pounds per year on fuel, parking, or fares — not to mention reducing your environmental impact. If you’ve been thinking about giving cycling a go, Cycle to Work Day is the perfect excuse to get started.

Access to Bikes for All

We know that for many people, owning a bike, especially an ebike, can be a barrier. That’s why FEL has been working hard to improve access to affordable cycling through our eBike Library scheme and partnerships with local services.

We’re also proud to be supporting NHS staff and key workers through our NHS Bike Library, making it easier for frontline workers to travel to and from work in a sustainable way.

These libraries offer short-term e-bike loans, support with learning to ride or build confidence, and advice on routes, maintenance, and choosing the right equipment.

No Bike? No Problem!

If you don’t have a bike of your own, or if it’s been a while since you’ve ridden, FEL can help. Our team can offer guidance on borrowing from one of our libraries or local partners, and we’re always happy to support anyone new to cycling.

You can also explore local initiatives like cycle-to-work salary sacrifice schemes, repair workshops, and route planning tools to make your transition into cycle commuting as smooth as possible.

Take Part – It’s Easy

Getting involved in Cycle to Work Day couldn’t be simpler. Here’s how:

  • Commit to ride: pledge your ride on the Cycle to Work Day website or social media.
  • Borrow or prep your bike: reach out to us if you need help accessing an e-bike or checking your current bike.
  • Ride to work: whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, just enjoy the ride!
  • Share your journey: tag @FELScotland on social media and use #CycleToWorkDay to inspire others.

Looking Ahead

At FEL, we’re committed to continuing our investment in sustainable transport options across the Forth Valley and beyond. By making cycling more accessible and inclusive, we hope to see more people choosing two wheels over four. Not just on Cycle to Work Day, but every day.

If you’d like to find out more about our eBike Library, the NHS Bike Library, or how to get involved in active travel initiatives in your area, visit our website or get in touch with our team.

Let’s make 3rd July the start of a new habit. See you on the cycle path!
