Climate Gathering for COP29
Join us on Thursday 21st November, 10am to 2.30pm at Venachar Lochside for an engaging day of talks, networking and workshops to celebrate COP29.
We are hosting this event in partnership with Scotland’s International Environment Centre. We will be making announcements about projects taking place in the remainder of the 2024-25 year, ending in April. Please do come along! An interactive session where attendees can present their projects, ideas, or initiatives, receive feedback, and connect. Participants are invited to bring an item that prompts a conversation around your organisation/group/idea.

Afternoon Session
13:00 and 13:45 | Workshops offering practical, hands-on learning from experienced organisations:
Join plantswoman Lauren Lochrie of Herbal Homestead to tailor make your own herbal tea bags for common ailments. Learn about and mix herbal blends that do well to support your immune system, aid sleeplessness, ease anxiety, and promote healthy digestion. Information handouts will also be provided.
Join Paul and Jo from Green Aspirations to learn about the benefits of coppicing – an ancient form of woodland management that provides renewable materials while also increasing biodiversity. You’ll get hands on with hazel sticks coppiced from sites in Central Scotland, and learn to carve a mushroom to keep. We’ll chat about the practicalities of restoring hazel coppice, and how to make it economically, as well as environmentally, sustainable.

Join climate speakers in small, facilitated discussions with FEL staff on hand to record insights.
- Tim Crick – Community Heat Team Project Leader, Sustainable West Linton and District
Tim Crick will share his experience leading the Community Heat Team project, which is hosted within Sustainable West Linton and District. With certifications in Thermography and Energy Efficiency, Tim has been instrumental in designing and implementing the Heat Survey process to support local communities. He is currently working with several communities across the Borders and East Lothians, providing guidance as they establish their own Community Heat Teams, funded by CLLD grant support.
- Donna Wood – CEO, Good Green Futures
Donna Wood will discuss Good Green Futures’ most ambitious project yet—a partnership with nine charities dedicated to promoting sustainable consumption. This new initiative aims to establish a large-scale, accessible facility featuring a marketplace for pre-loved items, a library of things, repair services, and Makerspaces. This project will serve as a hub for sustainable practices and community collaboration, encouraging the circular economy and reducing waste.
- Mia Lalane – Rural Youth Action Network Project Lead, Scottish Rural Action
Mia Lalane, the Rural Youth Action Network project lead at Scottish Rural Action, is also a founding member of the Forth Valley and Lomond Youth Local Action Group. Mia will share and discuss her work in strengthening networks for rural and island young adults, with a particular emphasis on climate action.
